Danish Mod Kobenstyle Swooning + Orla Kiely’s Kitchen

Remember my last Tuesday’s Treasury, For the Love of Danish Modern where I alluded to having a “super retro and super fun” Danish item that I would be sharing soon?  Well, here it is Folks, in all it’s Danish Mod glory.  A Dansk Kobenstyle tomato red fondue pot!  Doesn’t it make you want to call up your closest friends and gather around a tiny flame and partake in various cheese (or chocolate) creations, wearing your best ’60’s inspired garb? Sounds like a fun Fall party to me…

But wait, there’s more! 🙂  We have all your fondue accoutrements including a stainless steel bread bowl, 2 sets of fondue forks, and a ‘Fondue Cook-In’ cookbook.  I’m not kidding.  We hit the retro fondue party jack pot.  Go check it out!  They are all listed under our “Vintage Housewares” shop section.

Quistgaard in 1956.  “The cookware is recognizable for its 3 point welded handles and inventive lids that double as trivets and create the perfect surface for stacking and storing.” {www.dansk.com}  I bought my first piece of Kobenstyle about two years ago when Whitney and I started thrifting.  I spotted a bright yellow bowl and had to have it.  It was after I brought it home and did some research that I became a tad obsessed with all the fun colors and styles that are out there.  I use my bowl as a planter currently, and for photo props as seen below.

And now that you have been introduced to Kobenstyle (if you were unfamiliar before) you’ll start noticing it in magazines and maybe at your local flea market.  Most recently, as I was drooling over Orla Kiely’s home in the September 2013 Issue of Dwell Magazine, I spotted a yellow Kobenstyle pot in her kitchen! (it’s sitting back on the counter to the right of the KitchenAid mixer) Click on the photo for a photo tour of Ms. Kiely’s beautiful home, filled with her gorgeous bold prints and kitchenware.  My dream kitchen just might look exactly like this. Love everything about it.  Annnnd, that’s enough swooning for today…see you next time. 😉
