I should be nominated for Worst Blogger of 2014. Regardless, I am here to share some Christmas corners around my home with a little link love sprinkled thoughout. Here’s a glimpse of the living room, with my recently acquired vintage slat bench and Roger Folco abstract nudes painting. I am in love with this painting. It has such an interesting patina and texture up close.
Crate and Barrel helped bring Christmas cheer to the dining area – I love the pattern of this ‘Snowy Forest’ table runner. It complements my newly painted Celery Green kitchen pretty well. My paperwhites are starting to grow – too late for blooms by Christmas, but I’m hoping by New Year’s my house will smell like Spring with the help of these lovely bulbs!
And finally, a little white branchy wreath in the bedroom. If you look closely, you can see a Duiker pillow on the bench by Skinny Laminx. I have this out all year but it seems especially festive during winter. And while I’m at it, I should throw a shout out to Lamp Shade Designs. I’ve had two custom shades made for my vintage lamps, and I have been very pleased with both of them. Dana is easy to work with and she’ll send free samples of the fabrics, which is awesome!
I hope everyone has a cozy holiday season! See you next year!
E wanted a real Christmas tree this year so we brought one home this week. It makes the house smell so wonderful I think it might be our new standard. I decided to keep it simple and only add a few clear ornaments, which I already had, and decorate it with hand-cut white paper snowflakes. I cut a few new ones each night so by the 25th, we should be having a White Christmas even though we’re in Florida. 😉
Since the gift-giving season is upon us, I’ve been re-imagining some of our Verdibou finds as gift boxes. Although I love wrapping gifts in beautiful decorative papers with ribbons and bows, I also feel guilty because all that paper just ends up in the garbage! I like the idea of just putting a ribbon on a gift or putting it in a re-usable gift bag. But for that extra-special person, wouldn’t it be fun to have two gifts in one? I’m thinking a cigar enthusiast would love opening this vintage stogies box to find a special present inside. And then, the box can be used as storage for small keepsakes afterwards or some other purpose. What do you think? Do you have any ideas for other unconventional gift boxes?
Verdibou is diversifying! 🙂 We are now offering greeting cards and are starting out with a Christmas selection in time for the holiday season. These designs were inspired by the vintage ornaments we have in the shop right now. I’d love your feedback on the designs as we move forward and start to develop this section of our shop. Let me know what you think!
I know no one is thinking about Christmas yet, although I did see some Christmas lights at Target this afternoon sneaking in behind the Halloween haunts. But when you’re ready, Verdibou has a gaggle of lovely vintage ornaments listed in our Holiday Section on Etsy. It’s kind of a sparkly, Christmas Explosion! Go check it out. 😉
